Working towards systemic change
Neighborhood Legal Services is a steadfast advocate for individuals, families and communities throughout Los Angeles County. Through a combination of individual representation, high impact litigation and public policy advocacy, NLSLA combats the immediate and long-lasting effects of poverty and expands access to health, opportunity and justice in Los Angeles’ diverse neighborhoods.
Our practice areas have evolved to address the needs of Los Angeles’ poorest residents. Attorneys specializing in housing, family and domestic violence, public benefits, health, immigration, employment, workforce development, education, community economic development, and consumer rights provide free services in four languages—English, Spanish, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) and Armenian. These practice areas are supported by special projects including medical-legal community partnerships housed in community clinics and self-help centers in courthouses throughout the county.
