Minimizing obstacles to critical public benefits

Neighborhood Legal Services works to address individual and systemic problems with government subsistence and social services programs.
Families and individuals who qualify for programs such as CalWORKs, General Relief, Food Stamps and Supplemental Security Income are often wrongfully denied benefits or have trouble receiving them. We work to minimize these obstacles and address the policies and practices that create them.

Our attorneys use a variety of legal advocacy tools to help individual clients get the benefits they need and deserve, while working for systemic corrections and improvements that will positively impact low-income families and residents throughout California.
